November 24, 2009, Colombo. The saints will battle it out in the field once again when Josephians and Peterites from all batches take bat and ball to hand to determine the strongest team of them all.  The Battle of the Saints Cricket Carnival which will take place on December 06, 2009 at St. Peter’s College Grounds will play host to over 32 six-a-side teams. Organised by the Josephian Batch Group of ’99 and the Peterite Batch Group of 1995 – 2000, this cricket carnival, promises much fun and frolic for the whole family from the time the first ball is being bowled at 8.30 am.
The event, which coincides with the 5th Anniversary of the establishment of the Josephian Batch Group of 1999, is now form a permanent feature in the annual calendar of both brother schools, with either school hosting the tournament each alternate year.  The Josephian Batch of ‘99 was initially formed to foster fellowship amidst batch mates and help the College in whatever means possible. The construction of a Media Room, fully equipped with multi-media facilities etc., was their largest and most recent successful undertaking.
Their team-mates in this venture - the Peterite Batch Group of 1995 – 2000 has been active for over 6 years now and has been the live-wire in many Peterite centric college events contributing significantly towards the success of these initiatives. The group focuses on two main objectives, which are, to establish links and contacts among fellow batch members and contribute towards the advancement of members in their respective disciplines and also, to contribute collectively towards activities of the College.
All present and past Josephians and Peterites, their families and friends are invited to attend the cricket carnival. The organizers of the event has made all arrangements to provide entertainment the entire day with refreshment stalls, a special Kiddies Corner with a Bouncer and Merry-go-Round, special competitions, DJ music & Papare band to ensure your whole family can enjoy a memorable day out.
The Platinum sponsor for this year’s event will be Salonpas the world renowned brand used to remedy muscular & joint pains. The product is manufactured by Hisamitsu which is a Japanese pharmaceutical company with over 150 years experience in the industry.
