The Old Joes and Old Petes will rekindle their sporting rivalry of yesteryear at the “Battle of The Saints Cricket Carnival” on Sunday, 6th December 2009 at the St Peters’ College Grounds with the contest beginning at 8.30am. This tournament will be conducted for the second successive year and is jointly organized by the Josephian Batch of ‘99 and the Batch Group 1995 – 2000 of St Peter’s College, Colombo.

Over thirty teams comprising six members each will represent their batch and contest their opposing batch in each school. The inaugural tournament initiated by the Joes’ Batch of ’99 was held last year at the grounds of St Joseph’s College, and its success encouraged the organizers to make this an annual event.

The Joes’ Batch of ’99 together with the Peterite Batch Group ’95 – 2000 have linked up in organizing the event to further strengthen the ties between the past students and to raise funds for various projects in the schools.

The Joes Batch of ‘99 was formed to foster fellowship among its batch mates and to support the College collectively as a token of its appreciation towards the world class learning experience gained while schooling. In its latest project, the Batch completed the refurbishment of the College Media Room and equipped it with multimedia facilities for the use of students and teachers of the College.

Their team-mates in this venture; the Peterite Batch Group of 1995 – 2000 has been a live-wire in many college events for over five years through their active participation and contributions. The group focuses strengthening links among its batch members, supporting the advancement of their members in their respective disciplines and contributing towards the activities of the College.
All present and past Joes and Petes, their families and friends are most welcome for this event! There’ll be refreshment stalls galore to help quench your thirst and appease your hunger! A special Kiddies Corner with a Bouncer and Merry-go-Round will complete this fun-filled day out for the family!
